errors in: "He changed a lot after his marriage with/to her "

Hi everybody,
Is this sentence right?

He changed a lot after his marriage with/to her

Top answer

Hi Shahram, Try 'He changed a lot after marrying her'. It sounds better this way. I might be wrong but I think if you say marriage this way, it implies that the marriage has ended in a divorce.

I'd say they're both okay, but to my ear, "with" is more likely to be interpreted as "after the completion of his marriage with her."
