Error Identification?

Stanford T.Lewis is a master chess player who, like (1) a predator on the prowl, has mastered (2) the art of capitalizing on the mistakes (3) and weakness of their (4) opponent in a game. NO ERROR (5)

I answered 1 because I never have seen the structure like this : who followed by , and verb but the answer is 4.
What is the finite verb of this sentence like or has mastered?

Please clarify, Thank you.

The verb of the relative clause is "mastered" (the main verb of the sentence is "is"). "like" is a preposition not a verb. "like a predator on the prowl" is a parenthetical insertion.

Grammatically yes, but it would not read so well. The intended idea that he is a "like a predator on the prowl" because he capitalises on weaknesses is less clearly expressed.
