Error Identification

They made him treasurer because they considered him as honest.

There is no error as per my book.

Shouldn't we use 'an' before 'honest' ?

I believe the reason they have not used 'an' because 'honest'is not an adjective here. If we had 'boy ' at the last of the above sentence then we would use ' considered him as an honest boy'. Am I right?

Top answer

They made him treasurer because they considered him as honest. Honest in the sentence is an adjective; an is not required unless the last word is man , in which case it would be an honest man.
