Error correction

I am currently doing an online TEFL course. And one of the questions is about error correction.

I was just wondering if anyone had any advice on how to correct this error -

'Good morning, sir. What's up?' (Intermediate)

I know this is a mix of formal and informal speech but I'm just not sure how you would encourage the student to self-correct immediately.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Hi,

Perhaps you could ask the student, 'Are you talking to your boss or to your friend?'
