Erasmus motivation letter

Hi everyone, since i'm graduating soon i started applying for university so i would be grateful if you could have a look at my motivation letter.... here it is:

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am hereby applying for the Psychology program at the Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR) in September 2014. In the following letter I will explain why I think the EUR is the best university for me.

Firstly I would like to give you some background information about me. I was born and raised in Ruse, a bulgarian city situated near the Danube. From an early age I enjoyed face-to-face communication and meeting new people. Through the years this allowed me to see how one person can look, sound and react in many different ways depending on his or her inner state. So when I became older I started paying more attention to the less obvious details of people's behavior in certain situations and that is how I became interested in psychology.

Then seven years ago I was admitted to study at Baba Tonka High School of Mathematics which back then I taught was not of great importance but growing up in such environment, surrounded by some of the brightest minds in my country and highly educated and experienced teachers, helped me develop not only great teamwork skills but competitive spirit as well. The comprehensive studying of Mathematics allowed me to gain atypical vision of things and taught me to tirelessly seek for answers . Moreover I got used to working hard to achieve my goals. Although I knew nothing about psychology until I was 15 when I got introduced to it as a school subject, at that moment I found a whole new world, a discipline that represented my way of thinking and my starvation for explanation of the things happening around me.

Human behavior influences all aspects of our lives and by learning psychology I hope one day I will be able to explore our mind's deepest secrets which will give me the opportunity to help people overcome their problems. That is why I decided to continue my education in the field of psychology but unfortunately after a research I found out that the universities In Bulgaria are unable to offer me the desired level of education and job prospects. So following my dream led me to the decision to study in a foreign country. Unlike most of my friends who applied for different institutions in the UK I was inspired by the Netherlands and especially by the fact that people there transformed the sea into land in order to survive, which at first sounds impossible. The next step was choosing an university with an English taught psychology program and after looking through some possibilities I decided to apply for the Erasmus university, mainly because in my opinion the problem-based learning method is very good since it develops both practical and theoretical skills. Also I hope that joining the course will give me the opportunity broaden my horizons by meeting new people from all over the world and exploring many different cultures and habits as well as different opinions and tastes.
