Equivalent British to american educational standards

I have just finished my fist year of A-levels basically year 12 in britain; now I would like to know what its educational equivalent is in the US.

Hi, When I was in school in Britain many years ago, we always had the impression that passing your A-levels was like passing the first year at most American universities. We liked that idea. Best wishes, Clive

the OP will be 17 years old - perhaps someone from the US can tell us which Grade that corresponds to.

In Canada, it's called 'Grade 12'.

But how the level of work compares to that of other school systems, I don't know.
