Equation/ears/eyes/mayor...

Hi

Someone says: I'd like to thank Jerry for teaching me what the whole equation was, Mr X, Y and Z for your ears, eyes and brains and the Mayor and his Missus for.........

--- I checked what "equation" means, but maybe here it has some figurative meaning?

---- "ears, eyes and brains" - does it just mean thank you for your attention?

--- I know that "missus" can mean "wife", so maybe "mayor" means "husband"? I know there can be a mayor of the city, but I'm not sure if this is the case here?
