Vocabulary

equal tempered

Can anyone suggest a single word that would describe a person who treats others on an equal basis, regardless of their circumstances?

Another way of putting it is someone who presents the same demeanour to all.

The word I'm trying to remember is something along the lines of 'equable,' but that's not quite it.

Thanks.

Thanks for the response.
I'm still open to suggestions from others.
Equable doesn't have quite the right connotations I'm looking for - it applies more to an aspect of internal temperament than interaction with others. There is a word (which for the life of me I can't remember) that lies between equability and magnanimity. Any ideas?
