Envy & Jealous

Hi Guys,

Envy (noun and verb) and jealous (adj.), what is the difference? I can see “Native English” people use them almost the same way. Can I say for instance:

He envies you, because you are smart.

Or: He is an envy. He always feels jealous of you!

Please guys, correct the above sentences and provide more examples regarding envy and jealous, as nouns and adj.

Thanks guys

See the dictionary at www.m-w.com.

The adjectives are jealous and envious. The nouns describe the feelings of jealousy and envy. So a person cannot be "a jealousy" or "an envy".

JEALOUS (adjective)
1
a : intolerant of rivalry or unfaithfulness b : disposed to suspect rivalry or unfaithfulness
2
: hostile toward a rival
