Environmental protection is the responsibility of politicians, not individuals as individuals can do too little. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Some people think that the politicians should take responsibility for protecting the environment rather than individuals due to the efficiency. I strongly disagree with the statement and suppose that environmental protection is the duty for everyone.

On the one hand, politicians have an enormous effect on solving some environmental problems. Firstly, there are some problems that need the politicians than individuals. For instance, in 2018, Formosa factory released tons of untreated waste directly into the sea, which resulted in severe pollution, but thank to the interception of politicians, Formosa factory had been forced to take responsible for the consequences. Secondly, politicians play as leaders in many environmental campaigns. As an example, many Hanoi ministers had organized a campaign which called “Say no with plastic waste” last year and this meaningful campaign brought a lot of advantages not only for environment but also for people’s awareness.

On the other hand, I believe that individuals also need to take responsibility for environmental protection. As individuals, we can help in various ways, such as recycling more, buying more energy-efficient household items or planting more trees in our gardens. Otherwise, without the cooperation of both politicians and individuals, environmental issues will never be effectively tackled. For example, if farmers continue to burn forests for their own purposes, regardless of the government’s regulations, the problem of climate change will never be successfully mitigated.

To summarize, neither politicians nor individuals have enough abilities to handle environmental issues alone.
