Grammar

Environmental management policies

Hi,

Could somebody please revise this sentence for me? It is meant as part of an application, so it should be formal/neutral ... but why should I worry about register if there's any problem with grammar and/or semantics?

The purpose of this activity is to pinpoint* those indicators better suited to assess (1) how far local populations agree/disagree with environmental management policies and (2) how far economic activities integrate into environmental management policies. Techniques allowing the evaluation of the level of involvement and participation of local communities (e.g. Participatory Rural Appraisal) will be used.

*(identify? select?)

Thank you very much.

Hi, Identify precisely I guess you are writing what one might term technical sentences, but generally I don't like the idea of including numbers in parentheses in prose. Have you considered formatting it like this? g.

Hi Clive,

Thanks for your answer.
CliveThe meaning of the numbers is also unclear to me. eg Does the number 1 mean the item will be identifed first, or that it is the more important? Or neither?
Neither, so I formatted the text as you recommended and replaced numbers with bullet points (I thought you were suggesting this, or did I miss the point?).
