Vocabulary

entwined/intertwined

Hello,
Can they both be used in these sentences: "The fates of both countries seem somehow entwined/intertwined.", "Their arms entwined/intertwined and they skipped off to the park." Do they have different meanings?

You may use either word in your examples without changing the meaning. "Entwine" is more often used with two things twisted together or with one thing enclosing another. "Intertwine" is more often used with more than two things twisted together.
