Entrust with

The boss entrusted him with taking care of the administration. This doesn't sound quite right to me. Perhaps I would have to say: The boss entrusted him with the task of controlling the administration.

He was entrusted with (the task of) controlling the administraton.

Could 'entrust' be used in this situation? I'm asking because I don't hear the word 'entrust' very often.
