Entailment.

Hello,

I have a problem with this example:

A: X is a two-legged cat B: X is a biped

Is this example correct? I know biped is a two-legged animal by definition, but since the cat lost its legs - does A entail B?

Yes. But only if you agree that a surgeon who is carrying two legs that he amputated from a patient is a quadruped. Actually a biped has two feet .

  • Actually a biped has two feet .
  • So, it depends on whether each leg has a foot on its end.
