Did you have another suggestion for the first one? What you wrote is fine. Just to clarify it a bit more I may suggest: "Whatever he knows is important enough to Anna that she would hurt her own daughter in order to engage our sympathies."

Likewise with the second sentence. I would suggest:
How long does it take for the aliens to be born?

The first sentence is fine as you originally typed it, no need for the bit after the /

Again, you could include 'for' in the second sentence, but it isn't needed. The sentence is perfectly clear without it.
