Enough of plural nouns [ is or are ]?

"Enough of Earth’s mass has shifted to speed up its rotation."

In this sentence, the subject, enough of the Earth's mass, is considered singular.

What if enough of is followed by a plural noun, is enough of still considered singular? Enough of the books [ IS/ARE ] I am not sure about it. Could you help me clarify it? Thanks.
