I wonder why 'did not' cannot be used as it is of the same meaning as 'didn't'?There is no difference in meaning. But whenever a contraction exists, always use the contraction if you want to sound more natural.
The exception is in writing. Don't use the contractions in a scientific report, for example, or in a formal essay.
