enlist vs. ask

Hi everyone! Could you tell me what the difference between "enlist" and "ask"? Can I use ask to replace "enlist"?

#1 We've got to enlist some people to help prepare the food.

#2 The organization has enlisted the support of many famous people in raising money to help homeless children.

Many thanks!
