Enhances

If someone says

"Make-up enhances flaws."

Does that mean that make-up increases or reduces flaws?

There is a touch of ambiguity, which I'd avoid by saying eg make-up enhances your natural features. Clive

It kind of falls between the two meanings. You can't use "enhance" that way. Makeup covers or hides or downplays flaws.

Oh no! That is very nasty makeup!!

Makeup conceals flaws.
Makeup enhances a woman's beauty.
