ilma W hat is the difference between enhance (no comma) and improve? I can't improve on this excellent answer from Archstudent in another forum: Enhance is a more specialised way to say something similar to improve in this situation. It generally is used in different contexts to improve, and means something more like to intensify an existing quality, whatever that quality is - so it is generally positive but not necessarily, whereas improvement is always positive.

  • For example, if I was poor, if I had no money I might say improve the situation, that is to say, I want to get some money.
  • If I said enhance the situation that would sound strange, because you might think I am already enjoying being poor and want to become even poorer!
