Please look at these sentences.

That day in my class I asked my students to keep quiet if not I would send them out of the class.

That day in my class I told my students to maintain the silence, if they don't/didn't I would send them out of the class.

That day in my class I asked him to keep quiet if he doesn't/didn't I would send him out of the class.


Now this is statement I have given to someone, on that Day I asked students to do as above. Which one is grammatically correct am I fully wrong please help me to correct these?

  • No.
  • Say it this way.
  • That day in my class I asked my students to keep quiet.
  • I told them that if they didn't, I would send them out of the room.

No. Say it this way.

That day in my class I asked my students to keep quiet. I told them that if they didn't, I would send them out of the room.

Your other two examples need the same kind of change.

Also,

I told my students to keep quiet or I'd throw them out of class.

(It's not literally throwing them of course.)

You don't need the red part. When I was at school in England, teachers talked of sending students out.
