English usage - to be with

I was asked if the meaning of "to be with a company" is the same as to work for it. For example: "I'm with the FBI". Is it the same as "I work for the FBI ?"

Thank you.

"To be with"

Hi, Clive

Thank you very much for the reply. Just one more question: what's more informal, "to be with a company" or "to work for a company?"

Can I use either of them in any situation?

I thank you in advance.

Hi,

To be with' is a bit more informal, and more common in speech.
