How good (or bad) is the following period:

I wasn't able even to give myself answers, even less explain human nastiness.

The grammar is okay. The sentence reads well. But we need context.
I don't know why, but I'm more comfortable with "much less" in this structure.
It would be more convincing without the first "even," I think.
