dave_anonI think the answer is "It's me"
No. 'That man' is my son. His father ( me) is my father's son ( me).

Hi

You and fivejedjon are quite right

It's interesting. I don't have a son, but I do have a daughter; so I can transpose the riddle:

- That woman's father is my father's son

... in which case the meaning is obvious

Good riddle!

Hi

But now I'm not sure

The implicit last line of every riddle is: who/what am I?

To be sure, 'that man' or 'that woman' will refer to my son or daughter

But the answer to 'Who am I?' is me

I think the problem is with the referential pronoun but, to be honest, I still don't see why

The speaker is talking about 'that man', his son. 'I' always refers to the person who is speaking/writing.

Hi

The only clear referent we have here is 'my father's son' (and I have no brothers). So that transposes to 'me'. So we have:

- That man's father is me

... and that could only be used to refer to my son

... but the fact that I'm referring to him with 'that man' means that the answer to 'Who am I?' is me (his father)
