English prep for post-secondary

Hello, my name is Ben and throughout my life I have always struggled to read, write, and basically understand English. In my graduating year I've finally learnt to understand and gained confidence in composing and writing such as essays, however I still am a poor reader.

Because of my bad reading I basically bombed my English comprehension test worth 50% of my diploma and 25% of my overall grade and I finished with a 53% in English 30-1. And because of this I have decided to take the fall off of school to upgrade my English and then head to college starting in January while also improving in all areas of reading and writing.

I need input on methods of improving my English so that I'm prepared for my post-secondary future. My main concern is improving my reading and especially reading comprehension tests: to read a story or poem and to understand the material as I'm reading. I will search the net for practice tests but I'm sure I will be needing to do more work than just practice tests.

Hello Ben I don't know why you have posted in the General English Grammar Questions forum. You ask no questions. I don't think you have any major problems with English, though.
