Is it wrong to say "The book gives us fascinating insights (about) life in Mexico", instead of "The book gives us fascinating insights (into) life in Mexico."

Thanks in advanced.

The common phrase is "insights into." I've not heard "insights about."
You can use "information about," "ideas about" or "views of."
