The reception will be held at The Lodge afterwards can be taken as the canonical form. Adverbs (or adverbials) of place precede adverbs (or adverbials) of time as a rule.

Let's go home now. Not *Let's go now home.
We went to the movies yesterday. Not *We went yesterday to the movies.

I ran into him there last June. Not *I ran into him last June there.

Nevertheless, adverb placement is flexible in English.

We meet in the conference room at 10 o'clock. Or We meet at 10 o'clock in the conference room. Or At 10 o'clock we meet in the conference room.

It seems that each adverb has its own special favorite places where it likes to go in sentences.

As already discussed previously in this thread, afterwards can go in any of the three places marked by an asterisk above. The adverb later has the same preferences, by the way.
