English Grammar/Writing

Is 'a lot of stress' plural or singular?

Or do you even say 'a lot of stress'? Should it be 'stresses'?

I am trying to write a paragraph here and it says this.
'Although sport is exciting, it can also easily lead to a lot of pressure and stress. THIS is worse for players who is on a big game like the final that millions of people watch.'
Here's the writing problem. That 'THIS', is it right? Should it be These???

Help me through this, please.
