english grammar: articles with non count nouns

Dear English speakers,

This phrase is 100% correct - Knowledge is Power.
However, if you add an adjective before non count noun:
Knowledge is A devastating power or devastating power. should we omit the definite article.

the same thing with education. As far as I know we do not use articles before noncount nouns, however, all the American sites do use it.

e.g. He has got a good education.

Please help to explain the rule if any.

Thank you,

Puzzled ESL teacher
