If it is understood that there would not be more than one class per day, say "Did you have a class today?"

1) Did you read any books?

2 ) Did you read an book?

They are both OK if you correct the typo "Did you read a book?" The first one would be used in a situation where it is possible that the person could have read more than one book.

What did you do over the holidays? Did you read any books?
What did you do on the train journey? Did you read a book?
