Okay so I need a little help with a grammar problem. I can't seem to find anything on the web. I need to know which is more correct grammatically speaking: "the girl with the red dress." or, "The girl in the red dress." And if there's a general rule for using "with" & "in". Thanks

There is no rule, and both are correct. I hope you are aware that 'with' does not guarantee that she is wearing it, however.

Thanks Mr. Micawber! I was pretty sure it could be said either way. I couldn't find any such rule anywhere in my searching either. A non-native English teaching colleague and I were having a disagreement about this...she was very insistent that this was the rule.
