Which is correct?:

- if we had looked, we would had seen

or

- if we had looked, we would have seen



I still have trouble with this kind of constructions, and, sadly, I still don't get it.

You cannot have would had. Impossible. The only form of have which can directly follow a modal verb is have, never has, had, or having.

These are the correct combinations:

can have, could have, will have, would have, shall
