Dear Sir,
May I have clarifications for the following:
1)a)Linking Verb is also called as ........ verb.
b) Why does SAY become SAID (according to the rule if a word ends in consonant plus Y SAY should theoritically become SAIED????
2) Is it possible for "must" to be used in the past tense? If yes, can i have an example?
3) In which tense is the below mentioned sentence?Please explain.
"I must have put my books in my bag."

For #2, if you are looking for the "must" of obligation, then for the past we convert it to "had to" or "was requried to."
She said, "You must be home by 7."
