This sounds utterly wrong to me. Would rather should be followed by either a verb or a subjunctive construction.

I agree that 2 is the best choice , but I think that 'mornings over afternoons' is better. In some contexts, "mornings to afternoons" could suggest starting in the mornings and ending in the afternoons.
