English camp and an art camp

Hi. Are these correct? Do we need the indefinite article "an" in example sentence number 2? I think the word "during" in the sentences is optional. Thank you in advance for your help.

1. He will join English camp (during) this summer vacation.
2. He will join an art camp (during) this summer vacation.
