English as a key to Globalization

We are living in a world that houses a variety of peoples, each with its own customs, traditions, religion, and the likes. We call this variations as cultural diversity. It exists among nations which pertains to a society having the same ethnical features, backgrounds, and perspectives. The Europeans, for instance, differ from Africans in terms of skin complexion. Same way that Americans has a different language compared to Asians. With these differences, is there anyway to unite all people?

Language is one tool for communication. Communication is a process of sending and receiving information by a sender and a respondent. Therefore, language is very important to us. Imagine the kind of world we would be in without the media we call language!

Philippines has Filipino, China has Mandarin or Fookien, Japan has Nihonggo or Japanese, and Americans has English. With these differences, how on earth can we be able to communicate with each other?

Of course, there should be that one uniform and standard language that has to be learned and used by everyone to conquer language barriers and allow progress and development. That is where English, the universal language, comes in.

I agree that English seems to impose itself as an international language, even more so than Spanish and Mandarin. However, as a native English speaker, I feel that it is essential to respect other cultures and not to try to amalgamate countries that aren't linked. It is very important to me to attempt to understand my counterpart's culture and maybe their language in order to understand who they
