English applicattion for grant as an exchange student

Hey there!

I'm from Germany and I want to go to the USA as an exchange student next year.

I wrote a letter, to get a grant for it, because we have not so much money, to pay for it.

It has to be on english, and I'm not sure if all grammer and spellings are right.

It would be great, if anyone can may correct it... Emotion: smile

Last Summer, the wish to spend a whole school year abroad came up.

Recently, there was noactual reason why, but since I visited some exhibitions, spoke with former exchange students and informed myself on the Internet as well as with various booklets, the desire grew up in me to get to know a foreign culture, another country, new people, just to experience something so exciting very close to me, more and more.

Finally the exchange country was set: The USA.

It would mean a lot to me, if I’d actually get to spend a year in the USA.

I am open to new cultures and can easily integrate to foreign regions, which I could just recently prove by moving to a whole new city and changing the school.

Because I am already in my seventh year of learning English, I can talk very well English.

In fifth and sixth class I began having a correspondence with a student from another school in the USA, which our English teacher once visited. At that time it was really hard for me to understand what she wrote, but after I understood the text I was happy about the things she wrote about her native country. She wrote about her daily routine and sent tons of pictures. It was really exciting.

My future homestay can benefit of my presence because I am a very open person, I like to talk, tell stories and can get them closer to my home country. Because I like to keep occupied with informatics and computers, it would be nice to get to a homestay that is also interested in informatics to teach each other - it would be a win-win situation.

I don't know how it is to experience such an exchange, to broad ones horizons but I am sure that it will be exciting!

Sadly, the financials. As exciting it is - it's expensive.

Because my father is a single parent and my mother can't give me money, there's not much left to fulfill my wish. That's why I depend on this scholarship.

THANK YOU!! Emotion: smile
