English A1 Test's Question

Hi! I came across English A1 lvl test and there's a sentence I have a trouble with.

The sentence from the exercise:
"They put their tent in a .............. of the field."

You have to choose one correct answer from the three that were provided a) centre b) corner c) back
So the right answer is "C" - "corner", but it's not clear to me why the other two are wrong...

If someone could explain that to me I would be very grateful. Thank you in advance!

So we say this.

"They put their tent in the centre of the field."

"They put their tent at the back of the field."

"They put their tent in a corner of the field."
