hello, I am preparing for my IELTS exam and I need some helping for my Reading exam.

Here is a sentence which is drew from one of the mock tests :

"But, as you quickly realise when you step inside the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, there’s precious little going on that you would normally see on a university campus."

Could you explain for me the meaning of the phrase bolded?

I'm quite confused about the appearance of phrasal verb " going on" here.
