Rural-urban migration is the most common form of internal migration in many countries all over the world. There are some reasons for this occurrence. The first one is employment opportunities, which is a major reason why people migrate to cities because they are not finding employment opportunities in the rural areas they find themselves in. A university graduate, for example, is going to find it very difficult staying in a rural area because there will be very few opportunities for her- especially when it comes to getting a good and well-paying job, so she’ll move to an urban area such as a big town or a city where there are more job opportunities for her. Another reason is availability of better services. Due to advancements in the field of technology in urban areas, they can provide a variety of services to the people such as proper medical care, education, transportation. These services are not available in rural areas. Furthermore, they are close to amenities including shopping centers, sports stadiums and myriad places of entertainment. There is no doubt that life tends to be more enjoyable in the cities than in the villages. Take, for instance, your favorite musicians and bands. The likelihood of a famous musician or band performing in your village is very low. Cities abound with various forms of entertainment and social activities and have chances to meet idols that make living there very pleasurable. For many people, reasons above made city life appear more attractive than life on the farm, and therefore drew them away from rural communities.
