CAn you please help me to explain this..

Whose is the interrogative pronoun in the possessive case. Who or whom refers to prefer only; who is the nomination case while whome is in the objective case.

Strange that there's no use of the word "prefer", which you mentioned earlier in the thread.

Whose are these? is answered with possessive case pronouns like "Mine

This is the strangest substitution for "because" I've ever seen. "Coz" would be bad enough -- why the apostrophe?
