I'm wondering how I can ask a driver to stop a cab or a minibus in case I'm about to get off at the next stop?I mean how am I supposed to ask this if I'm abroad?

In Canada, a cab does not have a series of scheduled stops, The driver just takes you to your destination.
If you change your mind and want to get out, just say
eg I'd like to get out here, please.
