Hi In English, a falling tone is used at the end of a sentence when you are sad or disappointed or unsure - I hope she's going to be OK, but I'm really not that sure The last few words there would be said with a falling tone - the pitch of the voice lowers, to show that you are uncertain and unhappy about the situation Dave

Hi again

I should add that, in other languages, a falling or rising tone can be used to change the meaning of a word. But I can't think of an example for that in English - here, it is used mainly to show the feeling of the speaker
