Really it comes down to practise. The more you practise the more you fluency will improve. Don't worry about making mistakes but have people correct those mistakes so you don't practise the errors also. Have as much fun using the language as possible. When on your own try to work on your listening skills, (people often forget that communication requires both speaking and listening).

bar9onHi Dave, should it be; requires both ..Yes. It's a typo. I have a broken hand and therefore making plenty, most of which I spot but that one got through. I'll go back and edit it . Thanks
