If the subject is plural, most of the time the verb is singular--if it's in the present tense, that is.

So it's be "The announcers say..."

The opposite works for when the subject is singular:

"The announcer says..."

Please don't explain it this way. It's the plural form of the verb. The S that makes a noun plural is not the same S that forms the third-person singular form of a verb.

You can say that a plural noun usually takes a verb form without an S, while a third-person singular take
