ending with ARE.

Hello,

Teachers are not likely to work hard, whereas students are.

(whereas students are likely to work hard).

Can I end with "are" by omitting "likely to work hard"? Or do I have to complete the sentence by including it?

Thanks.

Hi, Ending with 'are' is fine. In very formal English (eg in a university exam essay) we usually don't. Clive
