End position of adverbs

I am doing some practice with these here, please check my senteces:

She missed occasionally her red tiny screwdriver downstairs to the cellar.

She missed her red tiny screwdriver downstairs to the cellar occasionally.

She missed occasionally her red tiny screwdriver in the cellar.

She missed the screwdriver in the cellar occasionally.

Top answer

She missed the screwdriver in the cellar occasionally. The first two are not natural English. The second two are just about possible, though 'tiny red' is more natural than 'red tiny', but they sound rather strange.

  • She missed the screwdriver in the cellar occasionally.
  • The first two are not natural English.
  • The second two are just about possible, though 'tiny red' is more natural than 'red tiny', but they sound rather strange.
  • Does she miss the screwdrive when she is in the cellar, or does she miss the screwdriver that is in the cellar?
  • If the latter, why doesn't she go down to get it?

Also:

We considered the situation during the conference meanwhile.

However I shouldn't say:

We considered the situation meanwhile during the conference.

Nevertheless it is ok in this format:

We considered the situation meanwhile.

Yes, the samples could be strange but I am studying the position of adverbs relative to prepositional phrases and objects. In my case I review the end position of an adverbs.
