Encounter / come across the sentence?

Hello.

The context is like this:
I run my program to learn English, set the level of difficulty, set the category, set the number of sentences to be selected, and then the program randomly draws from its database sentences fulfilling the above criteria so that I can translate them.

After such learning, is it correct to say that I encountered or came across some sentence (for example when asking about this sentence here)?

You came across the sentence. I wouldn't say "encountered" is wrong, but it doesn't seem like the most idiomatic choice to my ear. CJ
