Empowering in itself

Hi

Servan-Schreiber in his book explains how cancer works - that's empowering in itself - then goes on to suggest many ways to prevent or fend off cancer.

I understand it that: this in itself gives hope ... (empowering in itself)? Or maybe "it gives faith" or something like this?
