Hi,

Question1:

after reading the sentence below, will you think "employment rate for each gender in each country rise by 10%"?

Question2:

after reading the sentence below,, will you think "the total rise of employment rate in all countries is 10%"?

Sentence:

There is a trend of rises in employment rates, and the employment rates of both males and females in all 6 countries increased by 10%.

This sentence is ambiguous. It can be understood in both ways.

eg Old men and women are happy.

This sentence can be understood as old men and old women are happy or it can be understood as old men and women ( who can be young or old) are happy .
